Colleen and Joao were married at St Francis De Sales Church and held their reception at SFU Diamond Alumni Centre with its breathtaking mountain views atop Burnaby Mountain.
I loved how Colleen incorporated meaningful details into her wedding. She repurposed her mother’s bridal crown into her veil, clasped her grandmother’s broach to her bouquet and carried a vintage clutch with a hand embroidered handkerchief inside. The pair shares a love of Mario Kart and created a themed seating chart and even a gaming station at their reception. Colleen is an SFU alumni so the Diamond Centre made perfect sense.
Colleen and Joao meet playing volleyball, or so they tell people ;) Although a volleyball game was one of their first dates, they met online, which is so common today that I don’t think there is any reason to be shy about it. Joao was Colleen’s I-T guy to the rescue and she’d make him thank you cupcakes :) They lead a fun active lifestyle with a healthy dose of tech too. Their favourite show to watch together is Lip Sync Battle so they and their bridal party had to have an epic face off at the reception.
